“Come, my beloved, let us go out to the field; let us stay the night in the villages” (Song of Songs 7:12). “Come, my beloved, let us go out to the field.” The Divine spirit is shouting and saying: Let us go and stroll in the expanses of the world. “Let us stay the night in the villages [ bakefarim ],” with those who deny [ bakoferim ] Him, these are the cities of the nations of the world who denied the existence of the Holy One blessed be He. Rabbi Abba bar Kahana said: Nevertheless, it is only temporary.
